Climatic Revolution

Lately, the intense heat wave sweeping us, is notably torturous. It has been months, since the dry spell made its way and making things seem so intolerable. On the other part of the world, which i still remember, somewhere during early of this year, weather is really cold and it keeps snowing. This is alarming! We cant afford to be ignorant to the fact that Mother Nature is rebelling against us. The climate is getting turbulent. From time to time, Tsunami alert goes off out of the blue! Not to mention, tremors popping out to warn us. We have heard so much about global warming, green emission gas and the melting of the ice caps.

The REAL question is? What has been done to circumvent these rising earth's anguish? Now it all comes down to us as a responsible human being to put a stop to these distress call of nature! Lets all begin with a single step by choosing to live an environmentally friendly lifestyle to save our planet. Five ways to advocate green living:

1. Switch to Reusable Shopping Bags
This will be a most effective way to kickstart our goal. Plastic bags uses a lot of natural resources, and most end up as non biodegradable litter that destroys landscapes, clogs water channels, and kills thousands of marine mammals that mistake the ubiquitous bags for food.

2. Drive less
Driving causes air pollution by emission of greenhouse gases. When you do drive, make sure your car is running efficiently.Every gallon of gas you save not only saves cost, it also keeps 20 pounds of carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere.

3. Switch off when not in use
Save electricity and reduce global warming by turning off lights when you leave a room, and using only as much light as you need. And remember to turn off your television, when you're not using them.

4. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle (3R)
Do your part to reduce waste by choosing reusable products instead of disposables. By recycling half of your household waste, you can save 2,400 pounds of carbon dioxide annually.

5. Choose vegetarian or vegan meals
Livestock are responsible for more greenhouse gas emissions than transportation is. This is due to the large amounts of petroleum used in creating ammonium nitrate fertilizer (for the corn that they are fed) plus the cost of shipping that corn to the cattle and then shipping the cattle to slaughter and grocery. If one eats meat it should always be from a local source. Choosing vegetarian foods also drastically reduces agricultural water consumption and land use, and favorably impacts biodiversity

The future is not somewhere we are going. It is something we are creating. Therefore we should start creating a better future by making our earth a better place to live in. Global warming already disrupts millions of lives daily in the forms of destructive weather patterns as we are experiencing it now. What is already happening is only the tip of the melting iceberg, for it is the future generation who may suffer most from the effects of global warming. Reducing your carbon and greenhouse gas emissions will not only make your personal living space more sustainable but it will also save you money in both the short- and long-term.

A journey of thousand miles must start with a single step.

On that grave note, i'm signing off.
